Do you think it’s important for women to start having more conversations about money?

I do think it's a conversation worth opening up in safe spaces. I think it's a very private topic which I also understand, but I think having more conversations about tips & tricks, & constantly educating ourselves & each other is so beneficial.

What has your own personal journey with finances been like?

In my 20's I definitely prioritised things like travel & life experiences - which looking back, I have no regrets! I have some of the most incredible memories from over that time but in turn it meant my savings never looked too flash! In my 30's I've changed tactics & have a more balanced & positive relationship with my finances. I still have a buffer for amazing memories & life experiences, but also a large focus on the future, my savings & my finance goals. It's become quite addictive trying to hit my yearly savings targets!

What does financial freedom mean or look like to you?

Financial freedom to me is about being prepared & realistic. I want to be able to live life & be present in the moment, and to avoid getting myself into financial situations that could have been avoided with preparation & planning! It's all about being organised & educated. Sitting down and setting financial goals has definitely been the most helpful tool for me that has allowed me to have more financial freedom.

Why do you want to feel financially independent and educated about money?

I work really hard to earn the money I have & I'm really proud of that, in turn, I want to make wise financial decisions independently & to feel secure with my financial choices. At the end of the day, it's my money, my responsibility & my choices.

What do you like most about being a part of the Curve community?

I love that The Curve is constantly educating me on finance & investing. I've learnt so many tips & tricks & love how digestible all the content is. It has also challenged me to be more open minded & educated too when it comes to these areas of my life. I think the Warren Buffett quote below sums it up perfectly "The most important investment you can make is in yourself."

What is the biggest thing you’ve learnt about finance and investing through The Curve?

I had absolutely no knowledge on investing, or how to start investing before I became part of The Curve community. Through their workshops & educational content I've felt confident to start a Sharesies account & my investment portfolio. I've also learnt a lot of great tips on looking ahead to retirement too.
